A registered borrower is obliged to observe the following Library Membership Rules:

1. The borrower is held responsible for all items borrowed with their library card.
2. Registered borrower must have a proper post office address in Tanzania, an area without post office box number is not sufficient.
3. Borrowing without a library card is not possible.
4. The library card is free of charge. A replacement card costs Three Thousand Tanzania Shillings Only (TZS 3,000/=).
5. Items available for loan and loan periods:
   • Books in general collection: 5 days to students and 30 days to teachers
   • Journals: cannot be borrowed. They are used inside the library only.
   • Reference and Special Reserve Materials: cannot be borrowed. They are used inside the library only.
6. Overdue charges:
   • The overdue charges of One Thousand Tanzania Shillings only (TZS 1,000/=) per day is collected by CUoM Library.
   • The borrower is obliged to pay the overdue charges even if he/she has personal problem which made him/her not to return the library material on time.
7. Suspension of borrowing and using rights:
   • If a patron does not observe the library rules and instructions, his/her rights to borrow or use other library services may be suspended for a period of time.
   • The borrowing rights will also be suspended when the patron’s identity card is expired.
   • The borrowing rights will be regained when the identity card has been renewed or he/she has written an apology letter in case not conforming to library rules.
8. Compensation of items:
   • Lost or damaged items can be compensated primarily either by replacing the item with a copy of the same item or by paying the re-placement cost according to the Library charges.
9. Renewal of loans:
   • Loans can be renewed at the circulation desk inside the library.
10. Reservations/Place Hold:
    • Reservations or hold can be made free of charge at the library, using the web services at http://41.59.100.242.
11. Electronic resources:
    • All patrons are allowed to use the electronic library materials/full-text materials within or around the library premises.
